What is 3D Vjuve and Vaginal Rejuvenation?
The 3D Vjuve machine is a CO2 fractional ablative laser, medically certified and proven to improve the function, sensation and appearance of the vagina and vulva.
Many factors and experiences in life can impact the anatomy and health of a woman's vagina. Pregnancy, childbirth, peri-menopause, menopause, surgery, medical conditions, sexual abuse, psychosexual issues and general health can all impact the healthy functioning and structure of the vagina and the bladder. This can often cause problems such as urinary incontinence, vaginal dryness, vaginal laxity, painful sex, loss of sensation, atrophy and prolapse and many other related issues. All of these can have a significant impact on women's mental health and overall wellness.
Vaginal Rejuvenation is a procedure which aims to treat any or all of the above concerns via a targeted CO2 fractional ablative laser. The laser is gently inserted into the vagina via a probe and is fired painlessly via 3 passes. The procedure is completed with application of the laser to the whole vulva, including the inner and outer labia and the mons pubis area. (The vulva is first numbed with topical anaesthetic cream.) The procedure is generally quite comfortable for most and factors very low on the pain threshold.
How does the Vjuve laser work?
The Vjuve CO2 laser emits energy of a wavelength of 10,600 nanometres. Water within the skin cells absorbs this type of wavelength, resulting in the fractional ablation of the superficial layer of the skin. This produces a type of heat injury which stimulates the skin underneath, resulting in the formation of collagen fibres and elastin. This in turn significantly tightens the vaginal walls, urethral muscle, bladder walls, vaginal vestibule (entrance to the vagina) and skin on the entire vulva/external genitalia.
What can the 3D Vjuve treat?
This advanced medically certified CO2 fractional ablative laser technology can treat the following presenting concerns:
- Stress incontinence
- Poor bladder control
- Vaginal dryness and associated irritation
- Loss of vaginal elasticity and tightness
- Vaginal atrophy/mild prolapse
- Vulvodynia and vaginal pain
- Painful sexual intercourse
- Lichen Sclerosus (chronic inflammatory skin disorder of the vulva)
- Reduced sensitivity during sexual intercourse
- Improve the overall appearance, elasticity and sensitivity of the skin in the whole vulva area, including the inner and outer labia and mons pubis.
How many treatments should I have and what is the downtime?
The recommended number of treatments depends on your specific concerns and goals, however, an ideal treatment plan is 3 sessions, 4 weeks apart. The results can last between 18 months to 2 years.
There is little to no downtime with this treatment. The vagina/vulva responds very well to the laser and healing is quite swift. However, there may be a little post treatment soreness and vaginal secretion for a couple of days afterwards and therefore wearing a pad for a few days is recommended. However, sexual intercourse and use of tampons is restricted for 5 days post treatment.
A consultation with our Registered Nurse is required to rule out any contraindications and determine your treatment goals and ideal plan. All consultations and treatments are handled with the strictest confidence and respect for your privacy and dignity.
